1. 194 New Manuscripts Online
On 14 December, 33 manuscripts were added, from the Landesarchiv Appenzell Innerrhoden, the Stadtbibliothek Burgdorf; the Bibliothèque cantonale jurassienne at Porrentruy, the Schaffhausen Stadtbibliothek, and the Stifstbibliothek St. Gallen. These manuscripts joined others from prior updates, namely 47 manuscripts from the Stiftsbibliothek St. Gallen published on 22 September 2022, and 114 fragments from the Burgerbibliothek Bern published on 12 July 2021, for a total of 194 new manuscripts.

2. Cod. Sang. 1!
This update publishes St. Gallen, Stiftsbibliothek, Cod. Sang. 1, a high-quality thirteenth-century pocket Bible, containing the Old Testament, adorned with figurative illuminations, and likely produced in Paris. That a Bible can be found under shelfmark #1 is no accident; the current order of manuscripts at the Stiftsbibliothek reflects the medieval sequence, according to which Bibles, as the Books par excellence, come first.

3. An autograph of the Reformation
This update includes the publication of Burgdorf, Stadtbibliothek, 2SEe 14, containing the autograph notes of the antistes (from 1532) of the Reformed Church of Zürich, Heinrich Bullinger (1504-1574). This slim, 38-page notebook features notes on such themes as “Gloriatio sanctorum qualis?” (p. 31), “Superbia et iactantia” (pp. 17-19), including its remedy, and of course, “Curiositas” (p. 25). The unquestionable value of this manuscript proves the importance of smaller collections for preserving and communicating our collective history.
