Satires 1-3 and 10-14 are glossed (among them 7 Old High German glosses); for satires 3 and 14 only the beginning is glossed, for satire 10 only the end, which is probably due to the fact that these glosses were added to the respective quires before the manuscript was bound. D. J. Juvenalis Satyrae XVI
Vollständig; hier wie in Cod. 870 in 5 Bücher getheilt. Satyra XVI steht vor XV; beide sind, wie auch Sat. IV-IX blosser Text ohne Glosse. Letztere (Anf.: In hoc exordio voluntas scribendi) ist weder die Pithöische (Cod. 870) noch die Berner und wurde verglichen von Orelli 1829 und von Jahn 1838. Für den Text des Juvenal ist nach C. F. Hermann (1854) und O. Jahn nur der isolirt stehende Cod. Pithöanus massgebend; alle übrigen Hss., worauf die bisherige Vulgata beruht, sind interpolirt von einem spätrömischen Grammatiker. Ueber die Collation des Pithöanus durch Jahn siehe Rühl im Philologus Bd. 32. Der S. Gall. Cod. ist dem Einsiedler, der noch älter, sehr ähnlich.
