Manuscript Summary:
Manuscript Summary
This manuscript, composed of two parts, belonged to Michael Eggenstorfer, the last abbot of the monastery of All Saints in Schaffhausen. The first part dates from the twelfth century and consists of a Benedictional and texts on confession (Confessio generalissima). In addition to a few initials with vine decorations, there is also a full-page, partially-colored depiction of the Crucifixion (f. 22av). The second part was written in the second half of the fifteenth century and contains literature on personal piety, including those by Gerald of Zutphen, Pierre d’Ailly, Heinrich von Langenstein, and Guigo II Cartusiensis. A table of contents on f. 1r also indicates the purchase price. (bos)
