Manuscript Summary: | Manuscript Summary This manuscript contains a collection of 46 annotated sonnets, organized as a short "canzoniere" (songbook). The work is attributed to the mysterious Neapolitan poet Gironimo Del Riccio, about whom we lack any information. It was probably a gift to the French King Henry III on the occasion of his wedding to Louise de Lorraine-Vaudémont and became part of the royal library, as suggested by the coats of arms on the cover. |
