Manuscript Summary: Bifolio from the sixth volume (November-December) of a Fulda Legendary that originally consisted of six volumes, commissioned in 1156 by Rugger, monk at Frauenberg Abbey in Fulda (1176-1177 abbot of Fulda as Rugger II). This fragment contains parts of the volume's front matter (calendar for the month of December). The legendary was still used in the middle of the 16th century in Fulda by Georg Witzel (1501-1573) for his Hagiologium seu de sanctis ecclesiae (Mainz 1541) as well as for his Chorus sanctorum omnium. Zwelff Bücher Historien Aller Heiligen Gottes (Köln 1554). More fragments from the sixth volume are also in Basel. It shows that this volume, and at least the 3rd volume (May-June) of the legendary as well, reached Basel, where both evidently were used as manuscript waste around 1580. (stb)

1 verstümmeltes, durch N I 2: 59d teilweise zu ergänzendes Doppelbl.
Format: ca. 16-25 × 29,5 + (5+23) cm.
Condition: Bl. 1 (Hauptteil von N I 2: 59c) des zu rekonstruierenden Doppelblattes unten (mit Textverlust) stark beschnitten, weiterhin leicht an den äußeren Ecken, auf der bei der Zweitverwendung nach außen gewandten Seite am Rücken stark eingedunkelt; Bl. 2 besteht aus einem an Bl. 1 anschließenden Blattstummel, der wie dieses unten stark beschnitten ist; daran schließt im oberen Teil fast unmittelbar das unten noch stärker beschnittene Fragment N I 2: 59d an, dieses auf der bei der Zweitverwendung nach außen gewandten Seite am Rücken ebenfalls deutlich eingedunkelt.

Provenance of the manuscript: Einband von Basel, Universitätsbibliothek D J IV 3[:1, :2 und :3] (Drucke von 1519-1560; Vorbesitz: Ludwig Iselin 1579); Rückentitel: ERASMI PARAC[LESIS].... BAS. MONNERI ORATION[ES] III. DE LEGIBUS. TH. ZVINGERI NAUVTILEUM SOMNIUM. Das Fragment lässt sich kaum, wie Winterfeld 1900, p. 407 es tut (mit ihm Heyne 1992, p. 553), mit Remigius Faesch (1595-1667) in Verbindung zu bringen, der mutmaßlich um 1626 in den Besitz Fuldaer Handschriften kam (cf. zu Basel, Universitätbibliothek F III 15e).
